The ABC’s Stop Here

Aron, Becky, and Clayton from Delaware stopped for a visit.

We’ve had a month of visits, first the Carr family (Myron, Jessica, Rylie, and Wyatt), then Melissa and James came, Robin Coates, and then ‘lil bubba stayed a week longer for ‘camp’ popeye.  In camp this year we were reminded how much it takes to ‘keep up with’ the little ones – great job Melissa we admire all that you moms have to attend to.

Clay and Rebbecca (Becky) along with Aron followed after a weeks break – it was a time that we looked forward too – ‘older kids,’ maybe we could play now too..

I can’t say for sure, but somewhere in aging you begin to appreciate the ‘paths of least resistance’ – these guys can (and did) keep up with themselves very well, fine folks – great kids..

.

.

It was good to see them find comfort with the little that is offered here at the lake. I think it scared them when I said that no one around here wore underwear – I suppose I should’ve mentioned that bathing suits are the main attire. But, this is a place where making alot out of a little is just about mandatory….

.

.

.

and they adapted very quickly..

.

Melissa and James came to mingle with the cousins before her Hawaii adventure.

.

.

.

and Clayton found time to give James some fishing tips…….

.

as Aron tried his luck down near the 14th hole

.

The following day was pretty overcast, but we decided to stay on-track with our plans to check Lake Keowee out – and to close a few of those ‘little circles.’

.

Aron and Clay’s previous visit to Lake Keowee (where the Bell’s enjoyed several family weeks) was a mere 16 years ago.

.

The water and their feet size are likely the same as then, but now the young adults are floating a few feet closer to the bottom…..

.

.

The rocks remained the same – distance from the water…..

.

And up near the Jocassee dam the boys found a couple warm spots (oh yeah) to float in the current – Becky and I kept an eye on the beverage as we floated along in the boat……

and another little circle closed.

.

.

Becky is most certainly the ‘reader,’ I admire that

.

The rain finally came as we made our way back to the humble little lake of Cherokee…..

.

where there were more little areas of warmth to find comfort in – rain or not..

In the night we found more time (and a few more drink concoctions) before taking a last idle around the lake in the darkness, good time.

The ABC’s then moved on towards Asheville to investigate some of the brew-pubs, as Harriet (their story) tagged along….

Thanks for visit Serman’s, you guys have alot to be proud of – we are proud of you, and each of your cousins – all have done so very well….

now, just cover the ice guys….

Car(r)’s in August

this is under construction – a work in progress

In August we had a great visit with the Carr Family

.

After a week in Blowing Rock the kids were welcomed to little Lake Cherokee,

.

Wyatt was able to squeeze a little ‘shop’ time into his daily activities

.

along with a little domino stacking.

.

Rylie found some time to ponder the fish, and work on her casting technique.

.

Of course there was plenty of time for some ‘cruises’ on the pirate pontoon, where we shared the ‘booty’ with the newest pirates.

.

Kim, Rylie, and ‘Pete’ did some cooking

.

and some runnin (not Kim)

.

and swingin
